Adam Price may want to split up Iraq, but I'm not so sure that meddling with the Middle East's borders is such a good idea. It certainly hasn't worked in the past. Any moves on the part of the West to impose anything on these lines will be greeted with the same violent reaction by insurgents as before. Even the pro-independence Kurds would not be safe from violence, and could find themselves over-run by Turkey's armed forces on the flimsiest of pretexts.
Sunni insurgents aren't going around blowing up people or cutting off their heads because they want an independent state. They're doing it because they want to control the whole of Iraq. Giving them control of their own territories may seem reasonable in a world of rational thinkers, but I would argue that rational thinking does not figure highly on the hobby list of people who think blowing other people up is a good thing to do.
