There are a number of scenarios I've read. there is still a large Republican groundswell to contend with.
Travis Childers (who was elected in Mississippi)is a typical Southern Democrat, pro life and pro gun. Not a natural Obama supporter. (Though apparently Bill Clinton appeared during his campaign) This congressional district was solidly Democrat until 1994, and still has more registered Democrats than Republicans. I think that 60% of this vote was more to do with the candidate than party Though it is still a warning short to McCain not to forget poor southern Whites cannot be taken for granted.
